On February 23rd and 24th, the Viborg-Hurley Educators Rising members attended the state convention at DSU in Madison. Similar to FFA, there are competitions available related to the field of teaching, and five of our members competed. Presley competed in the Interactive Bulletin Board competition, Maddie competed in the Educators Rising speech, and Emma competed in the lesson plan development competition. Thea Sorlien also competed in the lesson plan development competition with a 1st grade math lesson, placed 2nd and qualified for nationals! Brinlee Smith completed in the children's pre-k literature competition with a book she wrote and illustrated, placed 2nd and qualified for nationals! Brinlee also went through the interview process to become one of four state officers and was awarded the vice president of membership office. She will have a busy next year working with the state director to get more schools to form Educators Rising chapters and grow the state's overall membership.
